How to Deal with Ransomware
Users can be fooled into clicking on infected email links and opening infected attachments. Hackers then take advantage of outdated vulnerable systems and lock down data and files. Recent events like the WannaCry ransomware attacks have been successful at infecting a large number of networks, holding those organizations's data and files hostage for ransom.
So how do you deal with ransomware attacks like WannaCry?

Get "proactive" and take the following steps to protect your organization from a ransomware attack:
Update and patch computers, servers, network, equipment and all software
Utilize at least basic antivirus, firewall, spam filtering and web filtering
Educate your employees
Limit user access to job-related resources
Backup and test restore
If you do discover or suspect a ransomware infection, follow these steps:
Unplug the computer from the network (NOT THE POWER)
Disconnect wireless connections
